with my trip down to Mexico for a music festival during the end of the Mayan calendar. Besides listening to music, I wanted a cultural experience while I was there. To prepare myself, I attended a class about the Mayan calendar at Johns Hopkins University. The professor made me realize that I had the wrong image of the mayan calendar. I always thought it was the round calendar, which is actually Aztec and isn't even a calendar. A Mayan calendar is in the shape of a stella with many calculated signs that counts down to 12/21/12 or documents a specific event that happened. The most preserved stellas are located in Coba.
